Official status pages are updated by hand and usually only after an incident is confirmed. Slowdowns often never get posted. We time real requests, so a slowdown shows up here within minutes.

How does Degraded check OpenAI?

Every minute we call the OpenAI API from Cloudflare's network. An answer of any kind, even "unauthorized", means the service is up; server errors, rate limit errors and timeouts count as failures. We say it is down after 3 failures in a row.
